On the one hand, I understand how new writers get frustrated and end up quitting, and on the other hand, I don’t understand why their expectations are so high.

Each platform offers a certain potential for those willing to unlock its depths and explore its workings. This takes time of course, which is asked of the writer before the platform offers much back generally.

There is a certain determination needed, a focus that can’t easily be broken each day and continues toward a vision. The actual work will be laborious and tedious, involving aspects of working online on a platform that doesn’t involve actual writing.

There is a certain marketing-minded writer and there is the abstract artistic writer, they both have their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to building an online audience.

Those who continue on with or without met expectations, on their own volition to gain the goal in mind, will eventually find the right strategy that works. The end result will be better than expected for most. A satisfying piece of the platform to call their own.
