Reaching the Milestone of 500 followers on Medium

I’ve finally reached the milestone of 500 followers here and it seemed fitting to write a story to detail the journey.

I’m not going to have some clickbait title trying to convince anyone that I know anything about getting followers, nor will this story be about my endless ambition to get more; rather, this will be simply a small celebration of perseverance and a thank you to those who have followed.

I realize most of my followers are just trying to get me to follow back, yet I still appreciate the follow. There are many sincere followers in there too, thankfully.

How did I get 501 followers? Well, partly, I followed 870 writers. That was the most significant strategy. I did only follow those I checked out and was interested in.

I didn’t do the follow and then unfollow strategy, which is disingenuous and rude, even if they don’t follow back. Obviously, many people didn’t follow me back, but that is OK.

Starting in earnest as a member back in December of 2022, I’ve now published 82 stories to date, not including this one. I did officially start this account back in 2018 and wrote around a dozen articles before I took it more seriously — those first articles were mostly rejected…
