The Pattern of Dreams
A poem exploring the pattern of dreams and what they may mean.
Something is always off
There was a time when I didn’t dream
Or, at least, the cannabis blocked them from memory
Subconscious issues weren’t getting attention
The dreams weren’t playing their regular tune
Yet, now when sober again
The dreams are finding their way into my memory
Issues are being worked out
Fears are being played out in strange scenarios
What they mean is generally lost on my rational mind
The strange scenarios are seemingly random in a chaotic mind
Looking back on my dreams
There is a pattern it seems
Something is always off
Although I am there in my right mind
The surroundings and happenings are off
People, places, and things are never quite right
Always this nagging plight needing attention
Something needs to be done
Yet there isn’t the ability to do it
